The BBC dramatisation of Elizabeth Gaskell’s North and South is being shown on BBC Four on Sunday evenings at 7pm. Elizabeth Gaskell’s home in Manchester has received a grant so it can be restored. I’m really pleased. Gaskell is one of my favourite authors, and though I haven’t been to the house yet, I do want to visit some time.
